Hmmm. Time to pull out the old wives tales? Spicy food, sex, walking stairs, a little self-action in a warm tub...
The grumpiness is probably a good sign, actually, as much as you don't wish bad moods upon your friends.
Um. Jumping up and down (ouch!) Rolling around on a birthing ball naked and lubed (ick!)
Tell your nurse to "fuss around." Mine did an "extra special" cervical exam that involved poking and prodding and stretching. It worked! (Apparently, another person can do such things more effectively than the self-action):)
