He was decidedly NOT playing. At the very beginning there were moments when he made a point of taking both hands completely OFF the guitar when it was "playing". I almost think that maybe the Super Bowl people told him he couldn't play live for whatever reason so he made it as obvious as possible that he wasn't.
See, I thought he was being obvious about not playing but Aaron kept insisting it had something to do with the sound and blah, blah, blah, I didn't believe whatever he was saying so I blocked the rest out.
I would guess that he was probably NOT singing. I imagine that the Superbowl Committee has a pretty strict rule about having everything taped beforehand (thanks, Ms. Jackson).
And yeah, the non-guitar playing was totally obvious. I mean, he kept taking BOTH HIS HANDS OFF THE INSTRUMENT while it was playing. I had it Tivo'd and we kind of made a big deal about replaying it over and over. And over.

Posted by Erin at February 5, 2007 11:59 AMSee, I really thought he WAS playing. Guess I was suspending my disbelief. That, and I was sitting pretty far away from the television.

So, was he actually SINGING?
Posted by erika at February 5, 2007 01:40 PMThat guitar was ridiculous. I bet it wouldn't even play if he'd wanted it to.
