Friday

Semi-busy weekend in the works. I'm going to be baking a lemon cheesecake tonight for a BBQ party tomorrow. Tomorrow is the party (to be redundant). Other things adding to my overall feeling of busy-ness: a coworker gave me a ginormous amount of bluefish today (he caught it yesterday) (and it's not good once it's been frozen), I have chicken I need to cook very soon as I bought it on Wednesday (or maybe Tuesday), I bought a new lime juice mix and I want to try it with Jack Daniels, we need to clean the house for Sunday, um, I'm sure there's more, but I'm losing my train of thought.

In other, very sad news, I found out on Tuesday that my extremely cool boss has leukemia. He also found out on Tuesday. He's checked into a Boston hospital and is going to be there for a month getting chemo/radiation. This completely threw everything into tornado mode for me this week. First of all, he is the nicest guy. The BEST boss. And why does this have to happen to him? His poor family. He's pretty positive, so hopefully that mental attitude will help during the upcoming treatment. So, if I'm distracted, that is why. All of a sudden, I feel very mortal. That tends not to happen very often for me. So, he has a sweet tooth and I'm going to be making a lot of cookies this weekend for him. Hopefully he won't be too sick to eat them. The care package will go out on Monday.

I hope you have a lovely weekend full of appreciation of everything you have. ;)

MIA

Sorry I haven't been writing more. I don't really have a good excuse. I'm addicted to KoL and it does seem to take up a lot of my time. Last week was pretty busy. A friend/coworker asked me to make Boobah cupcakes for her daughter's 2 year birthday. Scary little things, Boobahs. I made her the pink, purple and blue ones. They ended up looking like an homage to Boobahs, rather than an exact replicate. But they were full of sugar and it was for a 2 year old's birthday.

This past weekend, my older sister and her kids and hubby were in town from New York. The plan was to go to the Westfield Fair on Saturday and then there was an antique tractor pull at the fair on Sunday. Saturday poured and thundered and poured and was generally pretty sucky. We did end up trekking to the fair once the rain stopped, but everything was closed at that point.

Bright and early on Sunday (6 a.m.), my hubby and I headed up to my parents' house to help my dad load his tractors. An Oliver and a Massey Ferguson. He had already brought a Co Op and a John Deere down. In case you didn't know, my dad has two barns full of antique tractors. And he loads them with weights and brings them to tractor pulls. And he wins. A lot. But he's recently had back surgery and he's going in for more surgery and he needs extra hands/strong backs to lift the weights and chains. So my hubby and I helped out this weekend. I think my hubs lifted at least 5,000 pounds in one day. And I ran around all day - getting sunscreen and water and food and cigars (for my dad) and adjustable wrenches and wire. It was quite the production. Very, very loud with all these huge tractors running. And very stinky - they are all diesel and we were right near the pulling line.

I have to say, I found my hubby so attractive when he was covered with dirt and sweat. And he got to drive one of the tractors. So sexy. He impresses me more every day. He didn't have to help, he wanted to. And he just gets stronger and yet more gentle. Sweeter and sexier and lovlier every day. God, I'm so lucky. Do you know how sexy it is to see your man lifting huge 135 pound weights all day? And then knowing how to fix the electrical wiring on a tractor? And then taking time to come over and smooch me? So unbelievably handsome.

Yummy

Outback Jack

I got sucked into watching TBS' "Outback Jack". Partly (okay, mostly) because Jack is so frickin' cute. He seems like a genuinely nice guy and I loved his Australian accent. His mom was great - what a fantastic home! The adventures and things they put the women through were excellent. And, in the end, he didn't choose the bitch. He chose the nice, funny, cute woman. No, she was not my first choice, but they really seemed to enjoy each other's company. Marissa seemed mostly in it for the competition.

In other news, the 125 scrunches (crunches with a grimace) a day are working to an extent. I'm up to 150 now and I'll have before and after pictures for you shortly.

Weekend

Yesterday was pretty laid back. And by laid back, I mean completely lazy. We did get out later in the day to buy groceries and to rent some movies: "50 First Dates" and "Osama". Two absolutely different movies.

And then today we were going to take a river cruise on the Connecticut River up by Gill and Turners Falls, but we lallygagged too long and missed our embarkment time. So we did some sightseeing instead. Nice long drive up to Keene, NH. Very pretty town. Great shops, yummy foods. We ate at a Mexican restaurant and then headed back down to Northampton. And now I'm in my PJs and it's 5pm. Couldn't ask for a better weekend.
